School Closure - 4/1

School Closure
Posted on 04/01/2020
Dear Bailey Charter families,

Distance learning for all students will begin on Monday, April 6.  We have prepared packets for all students containing work for the next two weeks, as well as information for families regarding Distance Learning.

Learning packets will be available for pick-up at school this Thursday, April 2 and Friday, April 3 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.  No sign up is required - simply show up and let staff know what grade levels you need.  You can also send a friend or family member.  Please practice social distancing for the health and safety of your family as well as our staff.  These learning materials will also be available on our school website for you to download and print at home.

Teachers and staff members will be reaching out to students and families beginning Tuesday, April 7. Communication methods may include: email, Microsoft or Google, phone calls, or other methods that work best for families and teachers.  As you begin to work with your child on these assignments at home, staff are here to work virtually with all students and families from 9:00am to 3:00pm during the week.

Governor Sisolak has extended the closure of schools in Nevada until April 30 in order to continue the fight against COVID-19.  Materials for extended school closure will be available for pickup the week of April 13.

The purpose of distance learning is to reinforce skills your child has learned this school year.  Students can electronically submit assignments to their teachers as directed in the packets, or they can hold on to their completed assignments until they return to school.  This work will not be graded, but feedback will be provided to the student. If you have Internet access at home and multiple computers or tablets, please consider accessing these materials electronically at baileycharter.org.

Distance Learning is required for your student to receive credit for attendance during school closure. However, if your student is unable to start Distance Learning by this Tuesday, April 7, please note that they won’t be penalized in any way and should begin the work after they have received their packet.

Thank you in advance for your patience as we all work to support our families in their well-being and keep our children learning.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Michelle Engebretson
Principal
